Hugs to the Cats

Stella's way of greeting the cats is to hug them. She is the most gentle little soul I have ever seen with those cats. Not so for our faces! She likes to pinch!

4 kittens left, one female and four male--- and Nooni Rose is wants a home too!

Pictures to come.... our friends took two cats home with them this Saturday to join their expanding family. They just had a baby girl, and now they have two kittens. I'll update you on the kitten's names and post some pics. So now there are 4 kittens left, only one female.

Want a more mature cat?

We also have a 6 month old kitten/cat, female, we call her Nooni Rose, or mouse due to her gray color and mousy nose :), oh, and the name Nooni Rose comes from Marina (3 1/2 y.o.).

Pictured at left is Nooni Rose, AKA Mouse, also available for a new home (as we have 3 cats we are keeping and that is enough!)

Kittens are ready to go to their new homes! And the move to the Barn, a welcome change!

The Kittens have gotten big enough to move out to the barn. We need some mousers out there and our house just isn't big enough for 6 kittens. They love their new home and it sure is fun to go up and visit them. We just got 2 ponies for the girls and so we spend a lot of time at the barn with the ponies and kittens.

Kittens are Growing so Fast! Pictures of PJ and Abra Cadabra

Aren't they beautiful? The kittens were born on September 14th and they opened their eyes about a week ago. They are so calm and relaxed when I hold them. There are some interesting tabbies and a pretty dark gray kitten.

Look at that little belly! (Above)

Here is PJ (tabby male) and Abra Cadabra (black female) from the first litter. They look so big to me! They all enjoy cuddling

Kiki's New Arrivals: Kittens born on the Farm 9/14/08

ABOVE: Kittens in a basket: Their temporary home while I change their bedding

Kiki had her kittens on the eve of the full moon, September 14. She had 6: 3 dark tabbies and 3 gray tabbies. All healthy and beautiful. Amazing how Kiki and her kittens are thriving! I have a cat on my lap right now. We are a bit inundated with cats! It is fun to watch them play and snooze all over the house. We are taking names for those of you who want a kitten in 8 weeks time. There are 3 boys and 3 girls. Send me an email and I'll reserve one for you!

ABOVE: Here are some of those snoozing cats around the house: aren't they creative?

Jenna & Reddy Visit While Leo is Out of Town

This is the 2nd time we have taken care of Lucy's puppies while their owners are out of town. As long as we are home, we are happy to take care of your puppy(ies) for a reasonable fee. So let us know if you want us to watch your pup! Here are some pictures of Jenna and Reddy playing at the farm. They went on a walk in the morning and evening with us. They also enjoyed spending time with Lucy.

Here is Stella and 2 of the kittens. If you have been following this blog, you will probably remember that Kiki had her kittens 2 days after Lucy had her puppies.

Lucy at the Beach

Lucy has gained back all of her pre-pregnancy weight. While nursing 12 puppies she lost a lot of weight. As I was writing this I realized how funny it is, sort of backwards in the way we people think of pregnancy: I finally lost all my pregnancy weight vs finally gaining it back. LOL We can see it however we want, and if we had 12 babies we too would be trying to gain some weight!!

So I have been bringing Lucy to the beach with me and the kids. She just loves the water, especially on these wonderfully hot days.

Reddy & Jenna go to their New Home Together

The last two puppies went to their new home on August 5. They will be living with Leo and his daughter Laura. Leo and Laura named the puppies Jenna (purple collar) and Reddy (red collar). Soon after Leo picked up his new puppies, Jenna got a large golf-ball sized swelling on her face just under her right eye. Apparently a small puncture wound had become infected and Leo had it treated at the veterinarian. As of last Sunday it was just a little swollen and there was a small scar. She is doing well and both puppies are happy and healthy. Leo came by with his daughter and the puppies on Sunday and we had a little reunion.

Puppy Update: Letter from Mary & Tom

Mary and Tom adopted one of our puppies, Yogi Bear, who was and maybe still is the biggest male puppy of the litter. He also had the longest hair and was clearly the "fuzziest" puppy. They also adopted one of the kittens, also a black color, and named her Bell. Below is a letter from them about how the two are doing.

Bell & Yogi lounging (above)

Yogi Bear (above and below) pondering the water

Hi Candice and family!

Here are some photos of Yogi and Bell exploring their world. Things are going really well and they are getting along (mostly) well together. I still have to be careful that Yogi doesn't try to play to roughly though...I don't think they realise that they aren't the same species. Bell licks his head (and cleans his ears) and when Yogi wakes up he arches his back like a cat. I think we are creating a new breed of cat-dog here.
The vet visits have been going well and there were no worms or anything. The vet tried to tell us that we had been lied to about Yogi's age on our first visit! He is a lot bigger than these photos now that I think about it...these must be a few weeks old, he is losing his puppy-ness quickly! We are actually thinking about coming down to Langley this weekend to visit friends so if you'd like it we could stop by for a little reunion.
