Jenna & Reddy Visit While Leo is Out of Town

This is the 2nd time we have taken care of Lucy's puppies while their owners are out of town. As long as we are home, we are happy to take care of your puppy(ies) for a reasonable fee. So let us know if you want us to watch your pup! Here are some pictures of Jenna and Reddy playing at the farm. They went on a walk in the morning and evening with us. They also enjoyed spending time with Lucy.

Here is Stella and 2 of the kittens. If you have been following this blog, you will probably remember that Kiki had her kittens 2 days after Lucy had her puppies.

Lucy at the Beach

Lucy has gained back all of her pre-pregnancy weight. While nursing 12 puppies she lost a lot of weight. As I was writing this I realized how funny it is, sort of backwards in the way we people think of pregnancy: I finally lost all my pregnancy weight vs finally gaining it back. LOL We can see it however we want, and if we had 12 babies we too would be trying to gain some weight!!

So I have been bringing Lucy to the beach with me and the kids. She just loves the water, especially on these wonderfully hot days.

Reddy & Jenna go to their New Home Together

The last two puppies went to their new home on August 5. They will be living with Leo and his daughter Laura. Leo and Laura named the puppies Jenna (purple collar) and Reddy (red collar). Soon after Leo picked up his new puppies, Jenna got a large golf-ball sized swelling on her face just under her right eye. Apparently a small puncture wound had become infected and Leo had it treated at the veterinarian. As of last Sunday it was just a little swollen and there was a small scar. She is doing well and both puppies are happy and healthy. Leo came by with his daughter and the puppies on Sunday and we had a little reunion.

Puppy Update: Letter from Mary & Tom

Mary and Tom adopted one of our puppies, Yogi Bear, who was and maybe still is the biggest male puppy of the litter. He also had the longest hair and was clearly the "fuzziest" puppy. They also adopted one of the kittens, also a black color, and named her Bell. Below is a letter from them about how the two are doing.

Hi Candice and family!

Here are some photos of Yogi and Bell exploring their world. Things are going really well and they are getting along (mostly) well together. I still have to be careful that Yogi doesn't try to play to roughly though...I don't think they realise that they aren't the same species. Bell licks his head (and cleans his ears) and when Yogi wakes up he arches his back like a cat. I think we are creating a new breed of cat-dog here.
The vet visits have been going well and there were no worms or anything. The vet tried to tell us that we had been lied to about Yogi's age on our first visit! He is a lot bigger than these photos now that I think about it...these must be a few weeks old, he is losing his puppy-ness quickly! We are actually thinking about coming down to Langley this weekend to visit friends so if you'd like it we could stop by for a little reunion.

No more puppies left!

Thank you everyone who played a part in these 12 puppies lives. We did an amazing thing: great homes for 12 puppies, and I still have more people who are interested! The last two puppies went to their new home on Saturday August 2nd. They will live together. I will post more information in the next week about them. My family and I went on a backpacking trip at Mt. Baker with our dogs, and I'll include some pics here also.

Also, anyone who wants to send me an email about how their puppy/ies are doing, please do. I would like to include information about the puppies as they grow up so feel free to email me anytime with updates & pictures. Thank you and Love
