My, you have big teeth!

Somehow this picture of Lucy, above, makes it look like she is biting!  And because it is dark, it makes her teeth look huge!

Rocket and Whidbey go on a Stroll with the Girls

Rocket and Whidbey, two of Lucy's puppies from last year, are visiting the farm while their owners are away.  Meanwhile... the pups are having a grand time exploring the pond, grass, and running around wild & free!  My gilrs (4 and 1 years old) hold their own despite the dogs' large size.  Both girls took along their mini strollers avec le bebe.  Much to my protestations.  In the end, I opted to choose my battles wisely and let the girls struggle along, off roading with their toy strollers.   A decision that ended up being ok, even fun.  Certainly made for some cute pictures!!

Rocket and Whidbey's Great Summer Adventure

Above: Rocket and Whidbey explore the farm on their daily walk

I think technically Rocket and Whidbey are adult dogs now, being one year old in last May. They will always be puppies to me though. When our dog, Lucy, had puppies last year we didn't expect to get 12! We really enjoyed raising them and finding homes for them, which was no small task. They were born in May and all off to their new homes by late July. Rocket and Whidbey were the first two to leave the farm and the ones that visit us the most! Visit our puppy blog for pictures, stories, and more about the puppies.

The pups are visiting the farm for a few weeks while their owners are on vacation. And they sure are enjoying farm life here: checking out new animals~ ponies and cows (our neighbors), swimming in the pond, running through the tall grass, and romping around with their mama Lucy, who also happens to be a good disciplinarian.

These ferns (above) were up to my waist, at least.

Whidbey plays in the water. All the dogs took a dip or two while playing in the field.

Silly Whidbey, above

Field of grass, this wasn't even the tall grass. The canary grass grows, in some areas of the field, up to my head!

The ponies lead the way, Rocket follows

What beautiful scenery and weather!

Above: Rocket and Whidbey LOVE to doggie wrestle. One of them will "tackle" the other and they will roll around or even run into things.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUPPIES!

It has been one year since the puppies were born. And now it seems like so long ago. I think because I didn't keep a puppy so it has been 9-10 months since we had those jubilant and cute pups.

Wishing all of the one-year old puppies a Happy Birthday and their owners too!

Funny Funny Cats

Had to get a close up in this gravity defying, yoga-inspired slumber (ABOVE)

Sleeping on the fridge, in the bushes

You gotta appreciate a cat for its inventive and original spirit: especially when it comes to relaxing. I could fill a whole blog with silly cat pictures.

Last 3 Kittens go to their new home today!

All of Kiki's kittens have new homes now. It has been a long 4 months, but just today the last 3 kittens went to their new home-- all together! The 3 kittens a re a dark tabby male, a solid gray male ("Ballerina"), and a light tabby female. The kittens will be living in Oak Harbor on 5 acres and be indoor/outdoor cats. It is a bittersweet departure for me, as I am happy to have the kittens at their new homes, but I enjoyed having them from the beginning to end . . . My 3 year old daughter Marina was actually okay (my surprise) with seeing them go to their new home, I think I had the hardest time! Marina spent a lot of time holding and playing with the kittens, especially the big male solid gray kitten she named "Ballerina". I once caught her putting a pink pearl necklace around his neck and a pink sheer scarf on that as a leash. And he just sat there, enjoying the attention. Now we will have just 3 cats: Kiki and two of her kittens from the first litter, PJ a big tiger stripe tom and Nooni Rose a small female light gray colored tabby.Above: "Ballerina"
